But that didn’t stop the girls from winning fourteen games and a championship. In the championship game against PHS Hannah Cothern led the scoring with 21 points and Saraya Mullins added nine. “It felt great scoring 21 points to help the team win the championship,” Cothern said. I had to put it all out there for the last game to help the team get the first place medal.” The girls said this tournament had special meaning to them because four players made the All-Tournament Team. “WHats the accomplishment of all tourny team mean to you?” The girls’ who made the team are: Hannah Cothern, Saraya Mullins, Katelyn Enoch and Kelsay Proffitt. Also, Zoe Merrill brought home the title of League Scoring Champion for the tournament. “It meant a lot to me to be the league scoring champion, but I couldn’t have done it without the help of my teammates,” Merrill said. These freshman girls will be the future of our JV and Varsity teams’ in the coming years, and by the looks of the chemistry of how they play together and their record they hold, they will be successful in the coming years. “Our future looks very bright... I honestly believe we can go for a state title in the next couple years,” Cothern said.
