By Lindsey Baltich

Mammoth Lacrosse Official Site
Can the Mammoth's change their past and keep their record going?

The National Lacrosse League's playoffs start this week and the Mammoths will be led in by its best player: John Grant Jr. The Mammoths begin the NLL postseason against the Minnesota Swarm (20-14 in the season opener) on Saturday at the Pepsi Center. Despite losing the last two games in the regular season, Coach Bob Hamley has hope. "It's a new season. We're very proud of our 11-5 record, but that doesn't mean a lot right now." Hamley explains, "We can't wait until Saturday." Although the Mammoths have not gotten past the NLL divisional semifinals since 2006 (their championship year) and lost the chance to qualify for the playoffs in 2010, fans have hope. After all, Colorado finished with the second-best record in the NLL. In the past three playoff appearances, the Mammoths were eliminated by the Calgary Roughnecks, and there is a possibility that their paths will cross again. Calgary enters the post-season with the best record with 12-4. The Mammoth's star player, John Grant Jr, has 1,000 career points and 500 career goals. He recorded his 116th point during the game against Minnesota last week, setting a single-season record. The Mammoths have a great opportunity to be successful this postseason, this chance may not come around again.
