By Daniel McCants

Released on September 10, 2004, the popular video game franchise gets it's second theatrical release with "Resident Evil Apocalypse" directed by Alexander Witt, the movie generated more than $24 million within the first week of release. A sequel to the first movie, "Resident Evil" released in 2002. The plot is Alice remains in the heart of the ravaged and deadly Raccoon City. She has been subjected to biogenetic experimentation by the vast Umbrella Corporation and becomes genetically altered, with super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. Alice is joined by Jill Valentine, a recently demoted member of Umbrella Corp's elite Special Tactics and Rescue Services(S.T.A.R.S.), and a host of other survivors who struggle to escape the city. To reach their goal, they will need to battle their way through the relentless onslaught of the ravenous undead, as well as Umbrella forces and the colossal Nemesis. Film critic Roger Ebert was not as impressed and had this to say, "The movie is an utterly meaningless waste of time. There was no reason to produce it, except to make money, and there is no reason to see it, except to spend money. It is a dead zone, a film without interest, wit, imagination or even entertaining violence and special effects". Chris Hewitt of the Atlanta Journal Constitution says "Shines in comparison with other entries in the lamest current genre of film; video game-based movies." Most people at the theatre seem to be impressed with this sequel. I recommend that everyone sees this movie, fan or not, and decide for yourself.
