Ravishing Russell Howell

By Adin Fuchs

Shai Ben-Dor
Russell Howell, a smile for everyone.

Walking the halls of Goshen High School is the magnificent Russell Howell. He’s a guy that loves being with his family and his friends and still keeps his grades up. He has goals and ambitions which are incredible for a senior in high school, and he is more than determined to achieve them. Many high schoolers do not know what they would like to be when they are older, but Russell is different. He is not only a runner on the track team, a golfer, an active member of the spring musical and fall play, and a snowboarder, but he already has his heart set on becoming an engineer. He even knows what kind of engineer he would like to be. As an aspiring mechanical or chemical engineer, Russell has already attended two summer engineering programs at Villanova, where he will be attending college in the fall of 2012. Once Russell finishes his four years at college, his goal is to get his masters degree at a grad school. He said that he probably would like to go to California, but not LA, in order to do so. Why so far away? He would like to get the feel of living far away from what he has called home for his whole life. Russell is “intimidated but all the more excited,” to go off into the real world and begin working hard. Although he has a career choice that will give him a comfortable lifestyle, being wealthy in the future does not faze this free spirited teenager. He is more focused on just being happy and creating a good life for himself. Russell is a man with many goals and dreams. He is determined to take flying lessons and eventually get a pilot’s license. When speaking to Russell, you can hear the passion for his dream in his voice. This is also a voice that sings in the school musicals every year. In fact, was a jitterbug, a crow, and and Ozzian in this year’s production of The Wizard of Oz. Although he found that the show took up a lot of his free time and ruined his after school naps, he says it is fun and that all the work was worth it in the end. Russell is a well rounded young man. He knows what he wants, and he goes for it. He has a great sense of humor, and anyone would be lucky to get to know this senior. If you ever want to sit down and have a nice talk with him, just go to the Goshen Diner for breakfast. He’ll be there eating his favorite French toast, and will be more than happy to talk to you.
