By Kortney Oliver

The Boys’ Varsity Basketball players have many ways of getting pumped up for the game ahead. Before each game, they do what is called “locker pre-game.” This is where the players and coaches come up with three to five key points that they would focus on during the duration of the game. After the JV boys’ Basketball team finishes their game, the JV boys go into the locker room and bang on the lockers to pump up the Varsity players. This is what Mr. Moore calls “lightin’ the fire.” This pumps up all of the boys and gets their adrenalin going for the game ahead. They also do a team chant before they take the floor. The tradition motivates the current players and gives the freshman and sophomores something to look forward to. Every team has something that they do before a game or meet to help boost morale and improve the positive standard. “Are you ready…. yes sir…. all set…. you bet….readio…. let’s go.”
