By Edcel Gales

It was 90 degrees outside, a perfect day to play basketball. I invited my friend Kyle Limbert to play a game of one on one. Kyle ended up winning a very intense and fun game 11-8. As we walked towards the water fountain, Kyle and i had a conversation about what we are going to do after high school. I told Kyle my plans about going to buffalo and studying engineering and Kyle told me about going to the Marines. “I'm going to be a U.S. marine” Kyle said. He already mentioned his plan of going to the marines to me before but never really knew the reason why. Kyle’s cousin, larry Limbert, is also in the marines and the reason why Kyle wants to be a marine. Kyle and Larry had a good relationship since childhood. “We always played street hockey together. We were always in the same team and for some reason it feels like we have a strong bond every time were with each other. We have each others back through good times and bad.” Its usually brothers who have strong bonds but when Kyle talks about his cousin Larry, i could see the joy in his face when he talks about his fun experiences with Larry. Larry is now serving 4 years in the marines, and for 4 years. I’ve always thought about Larry’s condition.” Kyle said. Larry was sent to Iraq 3 years ago but was only assigned at the camp. “Even though hes only at the camp field, it stills worry me. A lot of things were going through my mind when he broke the news that he was going to Iraq.” Kyle said. Now that Kyle is finally graduating, he now has the chance to reunite with his cousin who is back in South Carolina. “The marine training is going to be at South Carolina so I get to see Larry” said Kyle. But it wont be a fun summer for Kyle, as he has to go through some grueling training. “ I know that training is going to be hard but Im self determined so I think I’ll do fine.” As we head our way back to the basketball for a rematch,Kyles story had me thinking about what some people would do just to be with the most important person in their life.
