By Angela Spring

Even with spending at least 13 years in school, there are experiences and sights that we cannot see inside the classroom. Traveling around the world causes people to see experiences and sights that are not seen in our own hometowns. Whether the trip’s main purpose is for fun or for helping to save the world, the traveler learns and sees things that are important. When traveling for a vacation, the main point of a trip is to relax and have fun, but the traveler can also pick up some words of different languages and cultures. Plus, a vacation does not only last the week or two spent relaxing, but the memories last a lifetime, which is another reason to travel. If someone travels to build a house in a third world country or help in an orphanage, important life skills and moral values are built. Traveling to a country less fortunate than the US plants a seed of thinking that what we have in our own homes is taken for granted and is what some would die for. We have running water to wash our hands and take showers in, and we never stop to think about how many simple and extravagant items that we have and never take a second glance at. Traveling for this reason really makes someone take a step back and appreciate the items they have. No matter the reason for traveling the world, the important thing is to travel the world, seeing places and cultures that would not have been seen or experienced without the leisure of traveling. Everyone should travel, no matter where it takes them, whether across the state, the nation or the world.
